Club Worker (Volunteer)

Get your hands dirty at our working bees, come socialise and get to know your local neighbours, work together and learn how to plant, harvest and maintain an edible organic garden. ​

EXPECTATIONS 
  • Respect the garden and its users at all times
  • Practice organic gardening principles - minimise pest and control weeds using biological rather chemical means
  • Be wise with water use and follow any water restrictions that are in place
  • Accept personal responsibility for working safely to minimise any risks to yourself and to others using the garden
  • Look after tools and garden equipment, use them safely and wisely and store them as you would like to find them
  • Bring only clean, safe, organic products onto the site.  Any contaminated soil, materials or tools are to be kept clear of the garden
  • Those who lose or damage tools or equipment, other than by normal wear and tear, will be asked to pay for their replacement.
The Following are not permitted in the garden:
  • Domestic animals 
  • Use of pesticides or fertilisers, except for those allowed under organic certification
  • Trees or shrubs that are long-lived or large. Pawpaw's and pigeon pea are allowed as long as they don't unduly shade neighbouring plots
  • Contaminated soil, mulch or plants, including those from fire ant infested areas
  • Timber treated with CCA or other poisonous chemicals
  • Structures including sense, sheds, compost bins, bays or storages bins. Trellises are allowed, as long as they are firmly constructed and do not unduly shade neighbouring plots
  • Dangerous or unsightly material such as rusty iron sheeting, broken timber, torn shade cloth or concrete rubble.
